CATHY (POWERS) & GENE BLANDO
Cathy & Gene celebrate 50 years of marriage on 7/1. They met at Dormont HS, wed at St. Pius X & moved to San Diego, where Gene was in the Navy. Returning to Pgh to raise their daughters, Tracey & Carrie, Gene was a welder for US Steel & started Blando Masonry, laying "brick & block til 4 o'clock" until retiring in 2012. He can be found taking walks, playing bocce, attending Veterans events & cheering on his grandchildren. Cathy was a full-time mom, teacher's aid, took many classes & was a bookkeeper for the family business. She volunteers as Treasurer of Dormont Historical Society & enjoys family history. Their greatest joy comes from their grandchildren: Alex, Louie, Julia & Jane. A blessing to many, there must be a reason that 3 girls are named after Cathy & 1 after Gene. WE LOVE YOU!
