
EDNA S. AND CECIL R. WALKER, SR.
89 yr. old Cecil Roosevelt, Sr. and 86 yr. old Edna Sutton (Moses) Walker were married January 20, 1952, in Pgh, PA. They were introduced by her dear belated cousin, Eunice Howze of the Hill District, in Pgh, PA. They have a union formed of 69 yrs. which produced nine God-fearing and hardworking children, Cecil, Jr. (Lydia, belated) 4, (Gloria McCleary) 5, (dv. Cheryl) 1. Thamar Hanif (Ibrahim) 8, (Samuel Andrews belated) 7, Naomi Muse (David) 2, (dv. Geary Burton, Esq. belated) 2, Esther (dv. Eugene Banks belated) 3, (Taiwo Oyekan) 1, Dr. Levi (Cheryl) 7, Timothy (Cheryl) 1, Aaron (Denice) 7, David (Sharon) 4, Joseph (Donna) 4, Emmanuel has blessed them w/ 56 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Edna's hobbies include dancing, singing, writing, boardgames and math. Edna especially delights in conversations. She likes to reminisce with her sister Edith McCallum, who recently lost her husband Jesse. Together they reminisce on their newly lost 94 yr. old sister, Amy Beulah Moses of Pgh, PA. Cecil's hobbies include drawing, singing, dancing, ceramics and repairing things. Edna worked at the Rehabilitation Inst. of Squirrel Hill for 25yrs. and St. Francis Hospital for 10 yrs. Cecil was a 2nd generation entrepreneur The Hot Tamale Man. He sold tamales throughout the Hill District and at one point had a restaurant. He also worked as an independent contractor, as well as working for the Urban League of Pgh. The couple joined the House of God The Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth, early in their union and they, along with most of their children, attend to this day. Edna and Cecil realize that all of their blessings come from God. The couple spend most of their time together at home. Due to the pandemic, they will celebrate their 69th anniversary with a quiet catered meal at home.
